Wild Art

Featuring the art of C. Raynel
Cassie's Biography & Contributions
   C. Raynel is my artist name. My first name, Cassie, is pronounced KC.
It is always a struggle for me to answer the question, "Where did you learn this?" or, "Are you self-taught?" Because of the support while I was learning, and because I was given a few brief classes over the years.
I'm not sure that I doodled on my pages at school, but I remember having the inescapable need to draw and recreate things as I saw them. It is still that way. Sometimes, when I'm in the passengers seat of a car, there is a sudden and desperate clamoring for a piece of paper to jot down an idea that I've had. Other times, there is just an emotion that I must search out the muse for, and the journey begins thereafter.
My art has never been about profit, though it would be really nice.. It has always been something that I've needed to do. It is not a good thing to be around me when I have had zero ability to express myself, there is just something pent up that desperately strives to get itself out through the brush or pencil, LOL. I'm sure fellow artists can identify with that, or anyone with their own personal artist that strives to escape.
There is very little in the art world that doesn't fascinate me, but it is admittedly color and life that claims my attention. The limitless possibilities of what to draw or paint is actually a frustration, there simply isn't enough time!

I hope that my artwork gives you candy for your soul and that you are open to the gifts that the Man Upstairs grants you.

I would like to thank the Art On South Main Gallery, especially Diana Eason, for having such faith in me to invite me as President for 2009. I'm so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of people and the advancement of the arts in Pueblo.

CASA
THIS YEAR's EVENT IS NOV. 14th!!
I've donated "Lobo" & "Olney Springs" to the benefit this year (not seen on the website)
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) mission is to advocate for abused & neglected children by providing a voice in the courts, and in the community, through trained volunteers.
Their site states that, "A CASA Volunteer is an ordinary individual from the community who is specially trained to advocate for children involved in the judicial system because of allegations of child abuse or neglect.  No special or legal backround is needed."
But, if you ask me, these individuals and this organization are extraordinary; It takes a huge heart and commitment, not to mention time, to accomplish and deal with this important position in the community.
I have donated a signed/numbered print of "The String", to the CASA organization of Pueblo, for the 2007 benefit. I hope that you will also see the importance of this service that they provide.
If you are unable to provide monetary donations or do not have items that they may auction at their annual benefit, it would be an even more incredible gift to volunteer your time. Please visit the CASA of Pueblo site at
www.casaofpueblo.org or email them at casaofpueblo@aol.com and contact their office. OR-
There are over 900 CASA programs nation wide, and in Colorado there are currently CASA programs in over half of the counties, so please contact the office in your area.

"Thank you, CASA, for being the voice that children so desperately need."

Contact CASA for next year's benefit.
I attend this benefit annually and can testify that the artwork is beautiful and the food is divine! Please help support this wonderful cause.

"Pryor Horses" aka "Ginger's Horses"
Original acrylic on canvas 12" x 24"
This painting is for a cause that is near and dear to my  heart.
I created it in support of the preservation of the American Mustang. Ginger Kathrens, Executive Director of the Cloud Foundation and spokesperson for the mustang, had this to say about the picture that I worked from;
"These horses were stolen from an aging black band stallion. The yearling in the band looked exactly like his father- black with a blaze. I called him 'Carbon Copy'. He was bait trapped and removed. His father now has no look-alike to pass on his beautiful color. Had they not been stolen, the family would still be in tact as the trapper only put one trap up at the top of the mountain and Carbon Copy's father never came to the mountain top. Sad irony."
These horses  are an exquisite example of how the mustang is being effected. You can find out more on the Cloud Foundation's website.
As an owner of two mustangs, myself, I can testify to the fact that these horses are as unique and precious as each of us.
